The Reds had been riding the crest of the wave atop the NL pennant race with (9) straight wins (from 9/20 to 9/27) but proceeded to lose their last (5) of (6) games to fall into a two way tie for 2nd place with the Phillies at 92-70. This is a ticket stub from the Sept. 30th game (Loss)vs. the Pirates which proved to be the beginning of the end. Jim Maloney fanned (13) Bucs but Bob Veale was even better KO'ing (16) Reds enroute to a 1-0, 15 inning victory.
