1961 Liberty Bowl program - Syracuse vs Miami - Ernie Davis (Heisman Trophy winner), John Mackey, Walt Sweeney, Dave Meggyesy and George Mira. Ex. Ernie Davis - the 1st African American recipient of the Heisman Trophy- capped off an illustrious career for the Orangemen rushing for (140) yards and helping them defeat Miami 15-14. Davis would be diagnosed with leukemia in 1962 (he died in 1963) and never played in the NFL.
