April 24th, 1901 marked the 1st Game ever for the newly formed American League between the Chicago White Stockings and the Cleveland Blues. There were (3) other games scheduled for that day but all (3) were rained out. The game was played at Chicago's South Side Grounds where the White Stockings defeated the Blues, 8-2. Bill Hoffer hurled the inagural game for the Cleveland franchise. This is the complete boxscore and historical perspective on that eventful day. PLEASE NOTE: This boxscore and perspective were added at a later date (1920's - early 30's) - not in 1901. Wes Ferrell pictured above was not even born yet (he was born in 1908).
