Cleveland Municipal Stadium opened its doors on July 1, 1931. On July 3rd it hosted a heavyweight championship bout between Max Schmeling & Young Stribling. The 1st baseball game - and home opener for the Indians - occurred on July 31st, 1932. The Indians lost, 1-0, to Lefty Grove and the Philadelphia Athletics This is a grandstand ticket stub for that historic event. The stub has been affixed to a scrapbook page. The Indians played all of their home game at Municipal Stadium in 1932 & 1933. Due to declining attendance during the Depression, the Indians played all their weekly games at old League Park and weekend game at Municipal Stadium beginning in 1934.
